Shift

No words can be uttered when the proverbial final nail has been deliberately, maliciously, or even haphazardly hammered into the coffin. What is there to say? The end. Game over. Death.

Seasons change bringing an end to one phase of life while ushering in a new beginning for the next phase of life. Sometimes we are not prepared for such a transition. Sometimes we pray for change. We often grieve with bittersweet tears either way. Unexpected, major shifts blindside and bring imbalance to otherwise steady ground because the humdrum of everyday life renders a false sense of security. Alas, life is a continuous cycle, ever-changing until death. Then I say, thankfully so, life is ever-changing. Otherwise, death might be forever, and resurrection cannot occur.

As a small child, did you ever hide in a closet, a secret fort, or in a small space allowing complete darkness to cover you like a warm, winter blanket? Otherwise, such a space would be frightening, but when you purposely hide there, it offers some comfort and security. This is your space, and no one can invade. I sometimes imagine that is how it feels to snuggle under the wing of the Almighty. Though there is no darkness where He is, for He is light, I envision the warmth and security of being hidden in Him, nestled in the side of my Father. This is my space, and no one can invade. In this place, I find rest, healing, strength, and nourishment. I am fed. I am restored. I have stability even during a major shift.

When we find ourselves bottom-side-up, we can take comfort in knowing God knows all. He knows every thought, every motive, every intention. He knows every plan devised by man. He hears every conversation and sees beyond every deception.  Biblically, we are promised that no weapon formed against us will prosper, every trap set will turn on the one who set it,  every curse spoken will fall on the one who spoke it, and whatsoever a man sows, so shall he reap for God is the God of justice. Multiple times throughout scripture, it is written that God does not have favorites. Period. His word is His word for ALL.

God loves us all and He holds us all to the same standard. Righteousness.

Even in the middle of a major shift, righteousness.

Even in grief, righteousness.

Even in anger, righteousness.

Even in rejection, righteousness.

Even in redemption, righteousness.

Even in prosperity, righteousness.

Even in vindication, righteousness.

So, friend, remember, this too shall pass. Seasons change, but God does not. Standing firm in Him is the only sure foundation. Do not put your faith in people; they will disappoint. Do not put your faith in your job; jobs end, positions change. Do not put your faith in material things; they cannot provide peace. All God requires is a heart toward Him. He will take care of everything else. Stand your ground and sin not. God's got this!

"For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight..."
Ephesians 1:4

Joseph: Treasure Chest

I've so enjoyed the study of Joseph, thus far.  For me, it has been much like finding a treasure chest, cautiously opening the lid, peering in trying to see everything the chest holds.  Layers upon layers, depths upon depths, discovering and analyzing every part of his life recounted in the Bible like examining small gemstones or more accurately witnessing the most beautiful diamond being formed amidst the ugliest circumstances.  "Natural diamonds are formed about 100 miles beneath the earth's surface where carbon rich rocks are melted by the heat of the earth's mantle, a layer of liquid lava rock, and are compressed by the enormous pressure of the many miles of earth above them. As the earth churns, the heated rock may move upwards away from the heat and cool over time, which can form diamonds if the conditions are just right. It takes hundreds of thousands of years for the process to take place." (ehow.google)  To simplify--high temperature, high pressur...

Porcupine

Photo by Vadym “The porcupine, whom one must handle gloved, may be respected, but never loved.”               ~Arthur Guiterman Those who know me, even those who have followed my blogs, know I have struggled in relationships. Though it is true, many of the hellacious, short-lived relationships were the result of simply picking the wrong people--whether romantic relationships, friendships, even mentors. For this reason, it is particularly important to pray about every aspect of your life, not just "the big things." In all actuality, the simplest details overlooked can thrust you into the most difficult and most painful situations from which to extricate yourself. Often, this is where we experience being blind-sided. Through these tumultuous times, as we all do, I have developed a defense mechanism that I only discovered in the past few weeks. In my prayer time, a revelation came to me so clearly, I may as well ha...

Get Dressed!

As a woman, getting dressed for the day can be a very meticulous process of matching the shoes, the earrings, even the makeup. It can be a frustrating process if, Heaven forbid, you have put on a few pounds! (Gasp!) It can be rewarding if you have managed to actually drop a few pounds! (Gasp, Gasp!) Getting dressed can literally set the mood for the day or even the entire week. So, I've been pondering if something can be so important to us in the natural, how important must it be in the Spirit realm? Jesus said to His disciples, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on." Later He tells us the condition of our hearts determines whether or not we are considered "unclean." At an early age, I memorized the armor of God. That is, the helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness, belt of Truth, sword of the Spirit, and finally the shoes of peace. My 3-year-old has it down pat! I b...
